so i thought I would start/finish this project which I wanted to show off my good friend Gabriel Ronquillo’s photography. Its supposed to be a layout for a faux magazine… until i realized i put it on the wrong size paper… aka instead of doing it 17×11 i did 11×8.5 yeah definitely not a magazine. So instead i guess we can just call it a mini.poster :]

So today is 18 days.. im winding down my summer internship with the wonderful Ruby Press team, the californian indian summer is heating up.. which means Fall is quickly approaching and my leave is oh so very close. How insane, im finally done with Community College after 2 long years striving for an ivy league… and im back where i started.. art school! So here’s to the future.. to Londofornia.

[ When I was making this I had no idea where it was going, I just knew I wanted to incorporate my beloved california with my new home.. also as you can see I replaced the red star on the left with a vectored image of Big Ben and the Golden Gate Bridge.]

back in the day… now i mean way back think about 4 years ago. I was a wee little high school girl, with the best friends anyone could ask for and not a care in the world. So to each one of my friends from those good old days, these pieces of art is dedicated to each one of you, for making those years, the best of my life.

Yearbook’s People Page
[ during official review of the yearbook by school staff, it was rejected, and had to be redone. aka: replaced crossed out eyes with wizard hats, bubbles and heart. Yes, I know how lame.]
Student Expressions Logo
[created for the Student Art section of the yearbook, I had a long (and still have) a wide obsession with the fleur-de-lis. ah, theres a reason why my grandmothers last name is Francois!]

FU**
**CK
[ I honestly have no idea what this is or why i made it? i'm going to blame it on a boy most likely and relate it to me being an cheer up emo graphic designer kid. (but i must say i love the orange|hotpink-ness with the wood) ]

Los Senores, Senior Class Shirt
[ ahh, now this I was commisioned by my good friend Grant Bristow (ASB senior class VP) to create a cool and sexy shirt for our graduating senior class, I guess our theme was mexican? But whatever, it was impressive to see my sexy mariachi bandgeek on every seniors shirt. ]

For those who don’t know, i’m interning at this wonderful boutique PR agency called Ruby Press. At Ruby Press I pretty much do the main intern things, ie mailings, running errands, etc. but one special thing I definately enjoy is being able to share my creativity and do some graphic work.
So just in time, we have one of our eco-friendly clients, Plover’s Sample Sale.. I designed this informative graphic just for that very purpose, to let you, the world know about Plover’s Sample Sale.

So yesterday I went to the beach in Santa Cruz and I have to say I saw the most beautiful sunset, im serious. Its things like this that will make me miss my lovely California the most. I decided that in the near future I must create something using the colors I decided that were brought out by this delicate sunset… brown, gold, blue, white and silver. beautiful. beautiful. i almost forgot where I was.

It being September 1 2008, means that I am 21 days closer to living, studying, breathing London. 21 days till the start of my BA honors Graphic Design experience ( i have no idea what the honors means, but its on my course description.) twentyone more days till I get to meet the most influential young artists in the whole world. I have decided that this will not just be my Creative Portfolio, but my diary and your insight into my creative process. Because the finish work is always what’s shone, but the creative process is where you find the artist.
