To the Start of a Brand New Year!

Hello Hello to all!

I’ve been on an uber long 4 week long holiday back to my home in California. I recently arrived back to London about 3 days ago, but literally have been sleeping my days away. (I’m the worst when it comes to jet lag) But I think as of today my mind is a tad bit more refreshed than when I first arrived so I ought to start blogging right away.

I would like to get started on a few things,

FIRST of ALL!!

I would like to congratulate a good friend of mine- Andrew Rose, at being accepted to work as one of the assistants at Sundance Film Festival in Utah. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this Film Festival, it is the largest  independent film festival in the US. It is responsible for making indie films such as Napolean Dynamite, little miss sunshine, Saw, the Blair Witch Project etc etc all big hits! If your interested in seeing what exactly goes on in these rad festivals check out Andrew Rose’s WordPress Blog! Good luck!

NEXT..

I’m preparing to create the first ever, ED2010 Campus edition right here at the University of the Arts London. I first was thinking it would be a good idea to do it through CSM. BUT! theres so much talent everywhere.. why not the whole of UAL. So just make sure if any of you are interested, keep watch to make sure you dont miss out on this historic event!

NOW..

on to the art. i’ve been mainly enjoying the R&R of the holidays but i did manage to create my image for the Hero/Heroine Photography brief.

[Hero: Music]

{My hero is music and the lyrics behind it. Lyrics provide a way for human beings to express themselves in a bare organic way.}

Sorry about the long hiatus!

It has been a jam-packed past couple of weeks here in Londontown. But I must say that I have loads of work to each one of you! Also just want to thank everyones patience with me since I haven’t been very good at keeping this so very up to date..

But for your viewing pleasure, here is what I have been up to for the past couple of weeks:

WEEK 5- TYPOGRAPHY

Brief: Each are assigned a typeface, each student must research in depth the history and reasons behind their font. From there a final piece must be created to communicate the essential qualities of the assigned typeface.

Typeface: ITC Charter

[ info: if i were to give charter a personality, it would have to be classified under the perfect man. If you take a close look the word, "Charter" is made up of hundreds of little silhouette forms of the man in the bottom right hand corner.]

its 11:28 and im procrastinating.

heres an update on my London Project which is due in oh.. 10 hours. assuming i would like some sleep, less than that.

heres a big heavy dose on my love of typography.. BANK is in reference to the tube station where, you guessed it most of the bank(ers) go for work. BRICK is in reference to brick lane, which is a major hang out for all artsy folk.. not to mention where most of our art shows are located.

MCTV

Back in high school i would say im an over achiever.. in the non-academic sense. i never had good grades in hs, instead i did a multitude of extra-curricular’s. Yearbook, Magazine, Photography, MCTV etc etc etc… But for the most part i submerged myself in all of this and became passionate about layout, typography and the use of color & most of all playing around with white space. So here is some work from my MCTV days.

London Project

So my crit for the London Project is this Thursday.. I decided I wanted to compare and contrast two types of people who inhabit the city of London, but who would be usually found at opposite ends of the spectrum. I wanted to show how both people are actually the same and how with in one you can find another. That perhaps outer looks can be deceiving & you can never really know a person without getting actually understand them. That perhaps underneath a banker theres an artist and underneath the artist there’s a banker. When I finish the full project ill be sure to post it up.

{ the graffiti side is layered with 100% silk fabric to imitate the material of ties and underneath the cut out of the tie is a photograph of graffiti I took at the Waterloo }

i heart typography

i was listening to the band “Four Year Strong” not too far back and really was digging this lyric. Also I really love typography and colors. so why not? :]

Anti-drug Campaign

a little bit I made for an anti-drug advertising exercise, using illustration as my media.

mixtape mixtape mixtape and the faux cover.

[I obtained a mixtape yesterday and i have the odd problem of creating art for things that dont have any but would look awesome if they did. The art gallery theme is because, selling lemonade is a forgotten art.]

Proudly Presents…

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that youll wait for me
Hold me like youll never let me go
cause Im leavin on a jet plane
Dont know when Ill be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

[ This was a little project I did, inspired by John Denver's song.]

the People Print & I

I used to work at this place called People Print, even though it was a very short time I learned the values of customer service and how fast paced the industry is.

With never ending projects, events to put on, things to create, design etc. usually till 11 pm it is definately hard work!! So heres the advertising plan I had set for them, if you can feel the vibe.. they wanted to be funky creative fun.. something to hit home to the college kids but still available to the parents whose kids play little league!

[ My good friend Winnie Kan modeled for me, the lighting and camera work was done by me, and my two good friends Andrew Rose & Kimmy Carrera. The "wind" effect is actually a blow dryer! ]

[ This is muah, I've always wanted to try modeling but unfortunately as I got older I would remain 5'1" for the rest of my life.. and just continue getting shorter. As you can tell the wording is greek still as this wasnt a printed final. ]

[ This right here is the window display that is up currently right now. The pice looks like one, but it is actually a 3 panel display suspended by wiring and has track lighting.]

[ Inside the store is a windown panel that acts as a separation between the work/production area & sales. The panels were printed like a giant sticker and placed on each window panel.]
